When should I arrive at UPM?

It is advisable for you to arrive at UPM to be between 8:00am and 5:00pm local time (GMT +8:00) on a week day (Monday to Friday) as these are the regular office hours.

Do I need to attend the orientation programme?

All new students are advised to attend the orientation programme. The international student orientation differs from the academic orientation.

What happens at the international student orientation programme?

You will learn about the programmes and services available to you at UPM. The orientation programme also includes talks on immigration, accommodation, health, transportation and campus tour. You will also have the chance to meet other international students.

Does the University provide financial assistance?

The University does not provide financial assistance to international students.

Can I bring my family with me?

Yes, but only your spouse and children. Your children must be under your care.

How do I find a place to live?

There are on- and off-campus accommodations available. You will need to contact UPM International at least three (3) months before arriving in Malaysia for the arrangement of on-campus accommodation. UPM International will disseminate the information about off-campus accommodation to you.

Can I get free health care for myself and my family while I study?

Free health care is only applicable to international students.
